Domingo Peñaloza

Domingo Peñaloza. Born in Santiago, Chile, March 15th, 2004. When he was 2 years old, He was diagnosed with autism and soon after, he fell in love into classical music. 

His mother, Carmen Chaigneau introduced him to a program for babies and toddlers to learn through classical music with images called Baby Einstein, and that became his first language and a way to communicate and connect with those around him.

Domingo began taking the Suzuki Method for early musical development at age 3, where he was exposed to all instruments, and he chose the violin at age 5. He began taking violin lessons with Pablo Calderón. At age 7, He also joined a Music and Dance Academy where he was able to further his studies on the violin, and at age 9, he started taking piano lessons. 

At age 14. Domingo joined the University of Chile Arts Program for high schoolers, where he studied music theory, violin and piano, and also, started to take violin classes with the meticulous violin concertmaster Sudama Tapia, and also, he became part of a orchestra at the ISUCH in 2023. 

His sister, Montse Peñaloza and he, they were homeschooled by their mom, and they’ve been devoted most of their day to their passion for classical music and dance in her case.

His favorite composers are Mozart, Beethoven, Bach, Haydn and Handel.

He has a YouTube channel, where he posts music videos, shorts, parodies, memes and more using classical music to motivate people of all ages to like and enjoy baroque, classical and romantic music, the same way his parents when they showed Baby Einstein when he was a child. 

In 2021, Domi started to participate in Classical Music Online Competitions in piano and violin, that in September, He won the second prize on the second round of the Worldvision Contest for adults in both instruments, later he won a gold medal in violin in The Best Classical Musicians Contest in England and I also won the Best Baroque Performance, on that same competition where he won a silver medal in piano. 

In 2022. Domi learned about the IYMC music competitions, and he had decided to participate in their online competitions, where he had won first runner up, first, second and third places in violin and piano since then. he truly thinks that their positive feedback is so detailed and it really gives me the opportunity to improve my skills as a musician in a better and concrete way.

In 2023. Domi started to have gigs while he plays his violin, and sometimes piano in places like restaurants, schools and even retirement homes.

In 2024, Domingo performed at the Baryshnikov Arts Center in New York where he played John Williams’s theme for the 1993 film, “Schindler’s List”.

Domingo lives with his family about an hour away from the city of Santiago, in a rural area that is known for its wines and produce. he also likes animals, which makes him an animal lover and owns 7 rescue dogs.

He likes to workout at the gym, riding his bike, and loves to travel with his mother when she is a flight attendant.

He likes to visit Miami regularly, and he plays piano at the Sherry Frontenac Oceanfront Hotel, which makes the guests and the staff who enjoy my music a lot.

When not gigging, Domingo keeps busy with his YouTube channel making animations, video-films, music presentations, arrangements and orchestrations, and more.

Sometimes, his videos are funny, educational, entertaining, magical and inspiring.
